A Joyfully Nourished Year: The 30-Day Prayer Challenge

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a wonderful NYE and New Year’s Day! It’s hard to believe that 2022 has come and gone. 2023 is here and there is SO much to be excited about and thankful for.

I’m thrilled to share The Joyfully Nourished Life 30-Day Prayer Challenge for the start of this New Year! This is a month-long group challenge for women ready to start living out their unique version of the Joyfully Nourished Life.

As a bonus, members will also receive FREE exclusive JNL content for authentic health! I can’t wait to start this fantastic journey with you. But first, that’s talk about why I believe this is the perfect start to your 2023.

The 30-Day Prayer Challenge: Renewing Your Mind

In the book of Romans in the New Testament, the apostle Paul appeals to the church of Rome to encourage their faith in Jesus Christ. In chapter 12, he starts out by telling them that they must separate themselves from how the rest of the world lives in order to know God’s will for their lives:

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God- this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:1-2 NIV)

What does Paul mean when he says “be transformed by the renewing of your mind?” I have pondered this very concept for years, but now I’m starting to understand that consistent, spirit-filled prayer is key to the renewal of our minds.

In his book Winning the War in Your Mind: Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life, pastor and founder of Life Church Craig Groeschel talks about the research that has been done on how prayer changes the mind.

He quotes neuroscientist Dr. Caroline Leaf, who stated that “12 minutes of daily focused prayer over an 8-week period can change the brain to such an extent that it can be measured on a brain scan.” Wow, that’s powerful!

There is also research evidence that connects prayer to improvements in physical health and well-being. For example, one study in elderly hospitalized patients showed that when participants used positive religious coping mechanisms, such as prayer, they were more likely to see improvements in health.
